As kids, we had a lot of sport games to play, but gradually cricket took over every sport we knew. Recently, we are witnessing a change in the pattern and people are opening up to other sports besides cricket, which is a good sign. Tennis is one of the popular sports in the world, but in India it’s catching up lately. Keeping this shift in mind, Pune Open Foundation started Pune Open Championship, Pune’s own annual International tennis tournament for people of all ages. The championship stared in 2012 with only 157 players, but in 2016 it had 1350 participants. Kids, men, women and veterans of all ages compete against each other in this elite competition that happens during year-end. The game is played at the Deccan Gymkhana.

Qualifying to participate at the Pune Open is an achievement in itself, and reflects the consistently outstanding performance of each player on the Pune Open Championship. By opening up doors to tennis may give India another tennis champion who would represent the nation in international championship games. India needs another Sania Mirza, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Leander Paes. I would also like to express my gratitude to the all sponsors, advisers, mentors, AllIndia Tennis Association & Deccan Gymkhana Club for providing such a wonderful venue. Pune Open foundation provides a key opportunity for Indian and International players to compete with the best players in the world. It has been a rewarding journey to see the tournament grow over the past 5 years in India. This would have not been possible without relentless support from All Sponsors and spectators.

Mission & Vision

In a nation where cricket is a religion and most sought after game, we are determined to bring a wave of change and make tennis as popular as cricket. With our spectacular start in Pune, we are looking forward to capture entire India and would be happy to host several tennis tournaments at different corners of the nation. We would like to be known as one of the best tennis tournament organizers in this great nation.

Pune Open foundation is not only about encouraging people to come and participate in tennis tournament but also to provide them safe, enjoyable and competitive environment that encourages all participants to reach their full potential no matter what their aspirations may be. Our success will be measured by the pride our participants take by competing in our tournament and the role models we produce within our community.
